This Christmas, I received as a gift my first Eco-Drive, which is basically a fancy name for a solar-powered watch. That’s actually a bit of a misnomer, though, since the company Citizen designed the world’s first watch capable of running on any source of light back in 1976. It’s a pretty cool concept and it got me thinking about how profound an idea it really is.
In many ways, people are powered by the light of others. By that, I mean if you spend time around people that energize you, that challenge, support, uplift, and inspire you, then you are operating on a kind of Eco-Drive. The energy of others, the hopes and surges of their hearts fuel yours. This is truly amazing. In darkness, left alone in solitude, we tend to dwindle and fade.
So this year, I’m renewing my commitment to both energize and be energized by others. One way I do this is through clinical counseling, but there are many other methods, such as mentorship coaching and professional consultation. Maybe you could benefit from recharging your enthusiasm or sparking your creativity and you just need someone to serve as that light source? I’d love the opportunity to help you shine.
I know, I know, who has the time? But that’s another important lesson of this watch. It reminds us that every moment that slips away is lost forever; it prompts us to take action now before minutes turn to hours and hours to days or months…or never.
So, yeah, I’m digging my new watch. And I’m watching this year to see who needs a fresh charge. If you’d like to learn more or start the process then go for it. Here’s some links to set you on that path. Make every moment count, my friend. There’s no time like the present…
