The Slow Burn: How to Pursue Personal Growth Without Running Yourself Into the Ground
Self-improvement is supposed to feel empowering, not exhausting. But in the pursuit of becoming “better,” many people find themselves overwhelmed, frustrated, or even disillusioned with

Seed Time, Harvest Time
Choices we make are like planting seeds and actions we take like watering and tending the land. Have you planted something but don’t see any results? Are you sweating in the field of your dreams and close to giving up due to lack of progress? Don’t let your vision be choked by weeds or wilt in the heat. There’s a purpose in all this.

A Ship in Harbor is Safe…
Are you considering taking a leap into the unknown and making a bold decision about your future? Whether this decision has to do with your career, your relationships, your business, or your personal life, just remember:

The Beauty of Restoration
I’ve always had a knack for restoring or improving things. Whether its people, a project, or an organization, I can’t help but see the potential of what could be. For some reason, that sparks within me a passion to sculpt possibility into reality.

Pregnant with a Promise
Nobody likes stretch marks. Whether you’re a body builder or an expectant mother, they’re unattractive and just plain frustrating. But they’re actually a really good sign. They mean something is growing. Growth often includes pain, change, and waiting. Have you grown lately?

Supercharge Your Passion
“I have laughed, in bitterness and agony of heart, at the contrast between what I seem and what I am!” Those words from Nathaniel Hawthorne in The Scarlet Letter issue a warning to individuals and businesses alike. Image matters, but far less than substance.

Addiction Treatment and Co-Occurring Disorders
If battling addiction is like a knight taking on a ravaging dragon, then dealing with co-occurring disorders is like fighting one with two heads and both of them spewing flames. The term “Co-Occurring Disorder” is a clinical one referring to a person being diagnosed with both addictive disease and one or more mental health disorders at the same time.

14 Keys to Building Rapport with Clients
If you’re interested in understanding the differences between levels of treatment to expand your current programs, direct a client to a more appropriate venue, or navigate the behavioral health/medical world yourself, then this video is for you. In it, I discuss the most common levels of treatment care, the medical necessity for each, and details specific to various intensities. The levels covered include: 1. Outpatient 2. Intensive Outpatient 3. Partial Hospitalization and 4. Residential/Inpatient Hopefully, this is a useful basic guide but let us know if you have questions or would like greater clarification.

The 7 keys to Drive
Why is lack of motivation or “drive” so common a phenomena? How is it that something so bad is so easily related to by so many driven professionals? The answers are varied but clear. Burnout is one reason: the quenched flames of something about which you once were passionate but now can barely tolerate. Or perhaps the culprit is complacency, where you’ve done well enough that you’re content to cease all improvement or growth. Another is becoming overwhelmed, wherein you focus on so many things you’re suddenly unable to focus on any of them. And then there’s lack of vision, losing the fire of reaching your objectives to the impulse of giving up on your dream. We’ve all been there. But there is not where we should stay.

Identify Yourself
The closing lines from the poem, Who are You? read: “When standing in our own company with no one else around, and looking inside: what then have we found? There’s only the past with its pains and glories too: will we be content with ourselves so true? Or shall we seek to create all new? ‘I’ll not be me, yes, that’s what I’ll do.’ When the ball drops and we see whether we measure up to par, I wonder who really knows just who they are.”
